Characteristics: Silkie The Legendary Red Pomerol Finish is a blended Irish whiskey made by Sliabh Liag Distillers in the Donegal region, inspired by local mythology and heritage. This special edition differs from other Silkies by being finished in casks previously used to age Pomerol wines from Bordeaux, which adds extra complexity to the classic profile of the Irish blend. The use of red wine casks intensifies the ripe fruit and spice character of the blend, making this version a distinctive proposition within the Silkie range. This cask-finish is an exploration of how a smooth Irish whiskey can be enriched with European fine wine influences, offering a balance between sweetness, structure and deeper notes.

Tasting Notes:

• View: Pink to golden amber colour with a slight sheen, reflecting the wine barrel finish.
• Nose: Intense and complex aromas with candied fruit, caramelized orange peel, subtle floral notes (violets), liquorice and an elegant touch of light smoke.
• Mouth: Smooth and rich entry, with raspberry coulis, dried orange, roasted apple and pipe tobacco; a deep sweetness (muscovite) appears alongside spicy touches and warm wood.
• Finish: Finishing with a long, balanced and slightly saline finish.
