1265 – CORPINNAT LLOPART BRUT NATURE GRAN RESERVE LEOPARDI – 66 Months of Ageing

Characteristics of the Wine: Produced in honor of Bernardus Leopardi, the first winegrower of the family, documented in a parchment handwritten in Latin from 1385, Leopardi is a Corpinnat Brut Nature aged for more than 60 months, the result of the blending of the best monovarietals of the flagship varieties of our estate: xarel·lo, macabeu and parellada. Its elegance and delicacy are a reflection of respectful work in the vineyards, organic farming and manual harvesting; of a rigorous elaboration that seeks the highest quality, and of the patient watch of time, which marks its passage in the wine. Llopart Leopardi came on the market in 1983, after more than four years of aging. Six centuries later from that 1385, and adding 40 years on the market, Llopart Leopardi is today synonymous with family tradition and wine excellence; the name of a reference Corpinnat recognized by expert tasters around the world.

The vineyard: Located in a unique enclave, in the municipality of Subirats, in the Alt Penedès mountain area, the Can Llopart estate comprises 500 hectares between vineyard and forest at an average altitude of 360 meters. The 102 hectares of our own vineyard are the essence of our personality. We cultivate the land in an ecological way, according to the parameters of sustainable cultivation, with the utmost respect for the environment. The peculiar geological configuration of our estate, with its rugged orography in the form of slopes and terraces, and with a shallow soil depth, gives rise to vines with a large root extension, limited vigour and one of the lowest productions in our wine-growing area.

Elaboration: Manual harvesting of the vines and pressing of the entire grape to maintain its properties to the maximum. We ferment the musts at a low temperature to preserve the freshest aromas in the wine. To choose the Leopardi blend, we taste all the wines of the vintage to choose the best in terms of profile and aging potential. At the beginning of the year we bottle the selected blend and prepare the bottles to start the second fermentation and aging in rhyme, at constant temperature and humidity, in the cellars. After more than 66 months of rest, we place the Leopardi bottles on the desks, where we proceed to the manual removal of each one of them. After about a month of stirring, we cut the neck to remove the lees from the wine, and cover with the definitive cork.
