7032 – FERDINANDS GIN SAAR DRY RIESLING INFUSED 44º – 50 Cl.

Description: The union of an avant-garde distillery located between the Saarland and Moselle regions, Avadis Distillery, which has opted for a perfect mix of tradition and innovation, and a winery with a reputation for producing great Riesling wines and having one of the best vineyards in the VDP* that Moselle-Saarland-Ruwer speaks of has impressed us.

The parents of this sublime product are the master distiller Andreas Vallendar, and the winegrower, Dorothee Zilliken, who together with her parents runs the winery. Both have decided to combine their experience in the creation of distillates and quality wines, to infuse Riesling, whose grapes have been cultivated and selected by Zilliken, from a gin created by Vallendar.First, several distillations are carried out of the grains that will form part of the base of the distillate.

This crude distillation is then followed by the addition of more than thirty botanicals used in its production, including aromatic herbs, spices and fruits, and a slow maceration is carried out. This mixture is then combined with a steam infusion of aromatic herbs and a subsequent infusion of Schiefer-Riesling, which, depending on the vintage of the wine, can be between 1 and 5 percent of the amount of the distillate.

The resulting solution is left to rest for four weeks and after this period of time, demineralised water is added to lower the alcohol content and leave it at 44 degrees.Among the botanicals used for this gin are juniper, obviously, lavender, thyme, quince, ginger, roses, cranberries, coriander, almond shells and rose hips. Almost all of them have been grown on the plots owned by the distillery with careful care for the environment.

The grapes, which bring a very special touch to this distillate, come from the slate wine region of Saarburger-Rausch, and have been hand-picked.What first catches our attention is the delicacy of the perfume, very floral and refreshing. This sensation invites us to drink it. In the mouth it is a real gin lady, with the virtues of the great classic gins, dry, strong and with great alcoholic power.
