2930 – RED WINE LA FORGE OF GÉRARD BERTRAND – WINES OF FRANCE
Characteristics: A tribute to Gérard Bertrand’s father, who loved this plot of old Carignan vines, some of which are over 100 years oldThe name “La Forge” comes from the cadastre, where all the necessary elements for the forge are found: wood for the fire and water to cool the metalWith great fullness, the palate reveals powerful and elegant aromas, reminiscent of “candied” red fruits. It is a great wine with great aging potential (20 years)
Vinification and Aging: The remarkable quality of this cuvée lies in the exceptional quality of the grapes. These are old vines, 80 years old for the Samsó and 20 years old for the Syrah. Controlled yields (25hl/ha) with green harvest to balance the load on each vine, so that the grapes ripen together. The grapes are traditionally harvested by hand. The wines are then placed in 225 liter Bordeaux barrels in our cellar for 10 to 12 months. We select the best potters, in order to adapt the choice of wood and the type of roasting to the potential of each vintage. The wines are not clarified or filtered before bottling. They are kept for 12 months in bottle before sale.
