2829 – RED WINE CRUOR 2019 D.O.Q. PRIORAT
Characteristics: The Priorat is a unique territory, dominated by a floor of slates called “licorella”, which sets a stamp on the wines of the area. The vines are planted on hillsides, sometimes with very steep slopes, which makes us talk about heroic viticulture. Grenache and Carignan dominate in these soils with so little organic matter. Because of this, the yields are low, which gives these grapes a very marked personality. In the Priorat, the land of the prior, the monks of the Scala Dei Carthusian brought the techniques and knowledge of Provence to the region, in such a way that they established the foundations of what this territory now means. It wasn’t until the 80s that he bet on this terroir and its old vines, taking them to the top and being among the best wines in the world. The rugged landscapes, the wine tradition, the isolated villages and the magic of the territory, this is what the Priorat transmits, a unique magic that is born in a unique land, made with awareness and drunk with respect.
Elaboration: The vineyards of Casa Gran del Siurana have a unique location within the Priorat. This makes it possible to make with grapes that ripen in the morning and afternoon sunlight, as well as grapes from cool areas and warmer areas. The selection of this diversity gives Cruor a complexity and elegance that expresses in detail the terroir of the area.
