Characteristics: This wine comes from 25-year-old Mencía vines grown on trellises in the Monterrei DO valley (Ourense – Galicia – Spain). The area is characterized by its slate and schist soils of Metamorphic origin, which gives this wine an elegant fruity charge and recognizable minerality.
Variety: Mencía (100%)
Denomination of Origin: La D.O. Monterrei
Alcoholic Content: 14% Vol.
Bottle Type and Capacity: 75 Cl smoked Bordeaux.
Tasting Notes:
- View: Cherry red colour with a dark red edge.
- Nose: Floral notes, violets and lilacs are initially perceived, as well as sweet treats, licorice, strawberry pallet, black fruit, blueberries and black plum.
- Mouth: Ripe, tasty, fatty and warm mouth. Ripe black fruit and a mineral background are appreciated.
Pairing: Mencía has the ability to accompany red meats, especially those prepared on the grill or in stews. Dishes such as Galician beef are enhanced with a good Mencía, creating a balance between the flavors of the wine and the meat.
