Description
2515 – RED WINE MARTÍ FABRA SELECTION VINYES VELLES 2019 D.O. EMPORDÀ
Characteristics: The Martí Fabra winery, producer of Martí Fabra Selection Vinyes Velles, embodies the winemaking tradition of L’Empordà like few others. Today, the work that the Carreras family started in the 12th century continues.
Elaboration: Blend of Grenache and Carignan, the grapes come from 50- to 80-year-old vines planted on slate soils, surrounded by aromatic herbs and olive trees and swept by the Tramuntana.
Varieties: 45% Grenache noir and 55% Carignan.
Vintage: 2019
Aging: Each variety was vinified separately in a traditional and artisanal way. It then aged for 9 months in cement tanks and 12 months in French oak barrels.
Alcohol content: 15% Vol.
Capacity: 75 Cl.
Tasting note:
· View: Dark picota colour with grana edges. With a high layer, this aged red wine forms a distinct tear.
· Nose: Provocative aromatic expression, in which Grenache and Carigny give off vivid aromas of black and red fruit and fresh balsamic. Little by little, the toasts and a wide range of spices and herbal notes nuance the fruit. Important mineral fund.
· Mouth: Wide and enveloping entrance, with a warm touch that is balanced by very fresh balsamics and a balanced acidity. This wine from old vines has a powerful and dense step. The fruit is tasty and slightly liquorice. Ripe tannins. Long fruity finish with a toasty aftertaste.
Pairing: Elegant and robust, we suggest pairing it with game dishes, such as wild boar civet.
Service: We recommend that you decant this red wine 1 hour before and serve it between 16 and 18 ºC.
