2410 – RED WINE RAW MANDÓ 2021 D.O. PLA DE BAGES

 

Characteristics: The production region of D.O. Pla de Bages is in the district of Bages, in the province of Barcelona. The production area consists of 26 municipalities, on the eastern side of the central depression of Catalonia. It has a Mediterranean, mid-mountain microclimate, protected by the Pre-Pyrenees to the north and the Serralada Litoral to the southeast. It is divided into two areas: Pla del Bages, the lowest area of ​​the valley and the one closest to the basin, where the average altitude is around 200 m. and Alt Bages, the area furthest from the basin and therefore higher and more rugged. Here the average altitude reaches 500 m.

Description: It is a limited edition production of 1,000 bottles of the 100% Mandó variety. Manual harvesting is done. Without clarifying or stabilizing. Therefore, they may appear precipitated.

Elaboration: Manual harvest. Grain selection at sorting table. Pre-maceration with spontaneous yeasts, in an old barrel for 12 days, in the cold for 12 hours and fermentation with subsequent aging on lees in a 750 litters granite amphora. Light filtration.

Aging: Young wine. A minimum of 6 months in bottle before going on the market.

Cellar: El Molí Cellar cultivates its vineyards and olive trees in front of the Montserrat mountain range, at the foot of the Collbaix hill, which gives its name to its wines. Uniting tradition and modernity, benefiting from a particular microclimate, medium mountain Mediterranean climate, loamy soils and organic farming.

Tasting notes:

  • View: Red wine with bluish rim.
  • Nose: In the olfactory aspect, dominance of aromatic herbs and undergrowth.

Pairing: Oxtail in chocolate, duck in orange or cuttlefish with meatballs.

Consumption temperature: The optimal service temperature is 18ºC. It is highly recommended to open the bottle and decant it for a while before consumption.
