2301 – RED WINE ROUREDA RESERVE – D.O. TARRAGONA
Characteristics: Evoking the Classics. Roureda transports us to the most genuine classics, because it is our most classic wine: subtle, authentic and Mediterranean, a wine we have been making with passion since 1978.
History: The Denomination of Origin DO Tarragona is located in the south of Catalonia, on the Mediterranean coast. The origin of this DO is not precisely known. Historically, it is established that the vine was already cultivated in Tarragona when the Greek and Phoenician colonies settled in Catalonia about 3,000 years ago.But the real driver of wines in Tarragona was the Roman Empire, 2,000 years ago. The Romans expanded its production and marketing as they considered it one of the best wines of the Empire. This is demonstrated by the writings of Roman authors of the 1st century such as Silvius Italicus, Martial and Pliny the Younger.
