Characteristics: Chichibu Paris Edition 2024 is a Japanese single malt produced by Chichibu Distillery under the Ichiro’s Malt brand. It is part of the annual “Paris Edition” series, created as a cultural tribute between Paris and Tokyo. The 2024 edition was released in a very limited production of 2,484 bottles for everyone. It is made from a blend of 15 casks: 12 ex-bourbon, 2 quarter casks chibidaru and 1 red wine cask. Its average maturation is 6 to 7 years, which provides a balance between youth and complexity. It is bottled at 50.5% vol., usually without chill filtration or added color, preserving aromatic intensity. The label is printed on Japanese washi paper and represents emblematic monuments of Paris and Tokyo such as the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe or the Imperial Palace. It is a highly sought-after edition by Japanese whisky collectors due to its small production, artistic design and prestige of the distillery founded by Ichiro Akuto.
Tasting Notes:
- View: Bright and clean gold colour, with good density in the glass.
- Nose: On the nose it is lively and unctuous, revealing a subtle peat in harmony with juicy aromas of lemon, menthol and vanilla. After aeration, tropical notes of banana and pineapple take center stage, followed by herbal infusions of verbena and bay, providing a pleasant freshness.
- Mouth: On the palate, the attack is tense and distinguished, with herbal notes of cut hay and pepper. Flavours of moist earth establish the base, quickly enriched by nuances of toast and nuts such as chestnut and date.
- Finish: The finish is long and full, starting with milky notes of coconut milk, then evolving to balanced flavors of candied pear and rosemary. Spices (cardamom, cloves, fresh ginger) provide an invigorating and harmonious conclusion.
