2923 – RED WINE CHASSAGNE-MONTRACHET VIEILLES VIGNES OF ROUX PÈRE ET FILS — WINES OF FRANCE

Characteristics: Established in 1855, this Burgundy house that combines property and commerce is currently managed by the fourth generation. Sébastien and Matthieu Roux perpetuate the family tradition and manage 65 hectares of vineyards spread over 13 villages in the Côte d’Or, Côtes de Nuits and Côte Chalonnaise. The Roux family played an important role in the recognition of Saint-Aubin and the worldwide fame of this appellation owes a lot to them!

Description: Before the phylloxera (1871), the Chassagne-Montrachet vineyard produced only red wines, with the exception of a few hectares and the famous Montrachet, classified separately. Currently, about half of the vineyard is planted with Chardonnay and produces great white wines. Red wines are very showy, full-bodied, often very fleshy.
