2828 – RED WINE CORANYA VINYES VELLES – D.O.Q. PRIORAT
Characteristics: Since 1978, Pere Sangenís and Conxita Vaqué have been making wines in Porrera, combining tradition with new trends. Currently, Maria and Nuria Sanguenís, the two daughters, who together with Pere, share the responsibility of making these great wines have also joined the team.The vineyards are located in the area of Porrera, within the D.O.Q. Priorat, in the estates that have belonged to Pere’s family since before 1700, planted on terraces and coasts, formed by the famous “liquor” (slate soil). The soils that are very poor together with the dry climate (550 mm) facilitate minimal production and therefore maximum quality.
Elaboration: Grapes from La Coranya estate with 40-year-old vines. Aging for 12 months in 2nd year oak barrels, 85% French and 15% American, with a minimum of 2 years in bottle. It has not been filtered or clarified.
Vinification: Vinified in old underground cement vats, lined with ceramic sandstone tiles. After 28 days of maceration, it is pressed and the malolactic fermentation takes place naturally.
Varieties: 50% Grenache and 50% Carignan

Tasting Note:
- View: Black plum colored wine with little tears but great aromas of black fruits.
- Nose: Intense aromas of forest fruits and spices with soft mineral notes.
- Mouth: In the mouth it is fleshy, broad and persistent. Very integrated wood with sweet tannins and a long finish.
Pairing: Roasts, grills (especially lamb), stews, game (wild boar in Porto, pheasant with figs), and cured cheeses.
Service: It is recommended to serve it between 16 and 18 ºC.
