It was in the Egyptian civilization that there was an evolution in bread making, they started using yeast and discovered fermentation. But, even so, the bread most similar to what we know today came from the hands of the Greeks, who became master bakers. And with the arrival of the Romans, who improved ovens and all the production machinery, the bakery industry was revolutionized.

The artisan bread that has come down to us today follows the basic recipe of flour, yeast, water and salt.
